DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental Implants at Moreton Dental

Dental implants are a permanent and effective solution for replacing missing teeth. They serve as artificial tooth roots made of titanium, which are surgically placed into the jawbone to support a crown, bridge, or denture. Dental implants not only restore the function of missing teeth but also improve aesthetics and provide a long-lasting results.

Who Are Dental Implants Suitable For?

Dental implants are an excellent option for many individuals, but it is important to note that not every patient is a suitable candidate. Suitability for dental implants is determined through a comprehensive clinical assessment by your dental clinician. Patients typically need:

  • Good oral and overall health

  • Healthy gums free of active periodontal disease

  • Sufficient jawbone density to support the implant

  • A commitment to maintaining good oral hygiene post-treatment

During your consultation, our experienced clinicians, Vinit Gohil, Preeyan Patel, and Oliver Quinn, will evaluate your oral health, medical history and jawbone structure to determine if dental implants are the right solution for you. If you lack sufficient bone density, options like bone grafting may be explored to improve candidacy.

The Dental Implant Process

  1. Consultation and Assessment:
The process begins with an in-depth consultation where our skilled implant clinicians, Vinit Gohil, Preeyan Patel, and Oliver Quinn, will evaluate your dental and medical history. They will assess your jawbone density and overall oral health through X-rays and/or refer for a CBCT scan, to determine if you are a suitable candidate for implants.

  2. Implant Placement:
The next step is the surgical placement of the titanium implant into the jawbone. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, ensuring a comfortable experience. Over the following weeks to months, the implant will naturally fuse with the bone through a process called osseointegration, creating a strong foundation for the replacement tooth.

  3. Healing Period:
After the implant is placed, a healing period of 3 to 6 months is typically required to allow the implant to integrate with the bone. In some cases, a temporary restoration may be placed during this time.

  4. Placement of the Crown or Prosthesis:
Once the implant has fully healed, a custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is securely attached to the implant. This final restoration is designed to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, both in appearance and function.

  5. Aftercare and Maintenance:
Dental implants require regular care, much like natural teeth. Routine examinations and hygienist appointments with our team at Moreton Dental, will ensure your implants remain in excellent condition for years to come.
